I would like to thank the following people for making this day possible:

Emmett Till

Medgar Evers

James Chaney

Addie Mae Collins

Martin Luther King, Jr.

Denise McNair

And all the thousands of nameless, faceless others who suffered and died so I could have a nice cushy life and grow up to vote for Barack Obama.  I could never repay you in a million lifetimes.  Thank you.

    Fierce.

I would like to thank those people too. And all the righteous folk who voted (for Obama) on Nov 4th.

  1. You’re welcome, Anners!

    -Righteous Folk

  2. I can’t remember being this happy in decades—or maybe since when my kids were born. I thank those folks every day, no kidding, for paving a way for the rest of us to achieve better things.

  3. I may not have voted for the man, but I will pray for him and his family everyday.

    We’ve come a long way.
(The year I was born there were still 3 bathrooms at the courthouse. Can you imagine? Would you even want to?)

  4. I can imagine Shawn, my dad grew up in the segregated south. Thank God those days are over.

    (Check your e-mail)

  5. (sent you one back)

It’s odd, Wanda. We were forced to desegregate early on, and because of that I think we have fewer problems than the places where the segregation might not have been so blatant.

  6. WOW. That’s beautiful.
